A search for "classical" is interesting.
Out of 476 million hits,
classical.net came up number one and classical.com number three.
There are several other multiple names in the list above,
including "finland" showing up three times.
Another interesting set is diamond.com, diamonds.com, diamonds.net and jewelry.com.
All of these have essentially the same products.
A search for "diamond" turns up diamond.com number 1, but none of the others.
A search for "diamonds" turns up diamonds.com number 1, diamonds.net number 6
and diamond.com sneaks in at the bottom of the first page.
A search for "jewelry" turns up jewelry.com number 1, and none of the others.
The diamonds example shows how powerful the key word domain name is,
because if jewelry.com, diamond.com, diamonds.com and diamonds.net
were the most relevant websites by subject, all four should have
shown at the top for all three searches.
You can see how much of an advantage
a single word domain name can give you.
Search engines keep their page ranking algorithms a secret,
so no one knows for sure how you can get ranked number one.
